Profiel van Dafreeze (Zanger/Zangeres en Saxofonist)
Introductie
De Vries (alias Dafreeze) is self-taught; his musical models are tenor sax player Hans Dulfer and singer Herman Brood. He began as a drummer with the punk band Circle of Hate and debuted worldwide in 1989 with the EP Go for It!, pressed on transparent green vinyl, from the American label Super Seven Records (parent label: Mystic Records). Ultimately de Vries decided to start singing and in 1990 became part of the famous musical foursome Mr. Slammer, a band which like Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Powerplay and Vitesse, regularly appeared with Golden Earring, becoming their longest-serving support act. In 1996 Mr. Slammer appeared on the independent record label Voodoo Entertainment with the album X-Generation which was strongly criticized in the national media.
Since 2004 de Vries appears regularly at jam sessions. Due to that de Vries was mainly to hear as saxophonist at the Monkey Blue Monkey album Kouwe Klets which was produced by Theo de Jong (The Shavers).
